Fabulous New Betsy Images

I'm sure this will be blogged about all over the blogosphere however, I absolutely loved seeing these new images of Betsy Burnham's work over at Decor Demon. She certainly is up there on my list of favourite Designers. Thanks must go to Ronda for finding this. Make sure you head over to Decor Demon to check out the rest of the images.

That Bed Head

You might remember this DIVINE guest bedroom belonging to U.S. designer Krista Ewart which was featured in Domino magazine last year. I remember absolutely obsessing over this room and that bed head. Well, you wouldn't believe it when I tell you that on the weekend some of LA's top designers had a tag sale in which they sold off some amazing things. Fellow blogger and friend Megan Samuels from Beach Bungalow 8 was there. I loved seeing the photos she shared of the sale. But when I saw the Krista Ewart bed head in the photos I nearly fainted! I emailed Megan straight away and said that if I was there I would have strapped myself to that bedhead and not let it go. Megan emailed me back and said she purchased it. I can't believe how lucky she was!! She is going to put it in her daughter's bedroom and apparently Krista threw in the ticking stripe bed skirt as well. Gosh, I can't wait to see what Megan does with it.

There it is....and look at all of the other amazing things!! I would have been almost hyperventilating!

Megan with Krista Ewart and look at the bed head peeping through in the back of the photo.

Congrats on your fantastic buy Megan!! I wonder what Krista Ewart will do in her guest room now?!

Brooke's AMAZING Beach House

Brooke Giannetti has done it again. Look at her beautiful beach house which was just featured in C Magazine. It certainly is amazing what good taste, white paint and beautiful furniture can do. Congratulations Brooke on your seriously divine home and the wonderful feature in C. You are an inspiration.

A Bedroom By Melanie Brooke

While I was away Melanie, who is the other designer at Black & Spiro, finished off this beautiful bedroom for one of her clients. I had to share it with you as I was so impressed with her work. The room is simple and so very stylish. I love the little injections of pale aqua and green and I love the way she placed the little vintage painting which she found in one of the client's other rooms on the bedside table. I also love the little Eiffel Tower which she has placed inside the other bedside cabinet!! A lovely room Mel! I can't wait to see the rest of the apartment once you are done!!

Loving Kathy Dalwood!!!

Celerie Kemble For Schumacher

Hothouse Flowers

Betwixt Bear Ivory

A little while ago I mentioned I had dinner with Andrew Puschel from Schumacher. At this time he promised to send me a preview of a collection which is due for release in America late August by much publicised U.S. designer Celerie Kemble. Well, Andrew stuck to his promise and recently sent me these images of a couple of the fabrics which will feature in the collection. He also sent me a little blurb as below;

"Celerie's look is based on beautifully refined traditional design with a reinterpreted and updated approach that speaks to a new generation. Her collection for Schumacher combines classic looks with very modern details and geometric patterning, using unexpected metallic finishes, exotic touches such as ikats and embroidery, as well as glamorous moiré, silk and velvet all in a rich and sophisticated color palette of saturated hues and subtle neutrals."

This room above is one of my favourite Celerie Kemble rooms which I believe is in a house in Palm Beach - very classic and timeless.

Hampton's Weekender

I seem to be on a little bit of a roll this week with my 'Weekender' posts but here is another gorgeous house located in the Hamptons which I had to share with you. I absolutely love the round mirrored table with the shell chandelier above and the beach baskets below - so pretty! This house is featured in this month's Elle Decor and is by much talked about US based (expat Australian) designer Emma Jane Pilkington. To see more pictures click HERE...

Tia Zoldan Says Hi

Today it seems the inbox was overloaded with lovely emails! Another exciting email was from US Interior Designer Tia Zoldan. Tia had recently stumbled across ABT and whilst browsing the archives found the post I did a few weeks ago on her GORGEOUS house!! She was so kind to send me an updated picture of the house which I was thrilled to see. A few changes are noticeable but the character of the house lives on!! If you haven't already visited Tia's website do so, it is well worth a visit. Her work is stunning!! Click HERE to visit. Thanks for saying Hi Tia. I LOVE your work!!

There Are No Rules...

I know Drew Barrymore's Flower Films 'un-offices' (decorated by Ruthie Sommers) have been featured by lots of other bloggers over the last couple of weeks but I just had to post this little snippet of the article which I loved...

When asked about her favorite piece in the office, Barrymore says, "I believe you can combine anything. I feel there are no rules."

Definitely a woman after my own heart!!

And Talking Of Windsor...

Windsor Smith's Kitchen
And while I'm on the subject of Windsor Smith I just have to post these updated images (thanks to Style Court) of my favourite kitchen in the whole wide world which Windsor designed for her own home....I know I've posted it before but it's like Chloe Sevigny's hallway...both are are in my all time top 10 favourite rooms file and whenever I see these pictures I sigh and look for ages and ages and ages and ages!! I don't think I will ever tire of seeing these rooms!!
BTW - for my Australian readers if you are interested we stock those beautiful white reproduction Chippendale chairs which Windsor has used in her kitchen above at Black & Spiro and we also sell the KW wallpaper as seen in Chloe's hallway below at Black & Spiro too!!

Mismatched Style

Peter Dunham images courtesy of Domino Magazine

The thing I really like about this room by U.S. Interior Designer Peter Dunham is that it is mismatched and looks lived in and even though he has used collections of things some people wouldn't dream of putting together it works and it creates a sense of personal style. Don't get me wrong there are some things in this room that I personally would never have in my own room but that's the point and that's what mismatched style is all about. Bringing together interesting fabrics, textures, furniture styles and accessories in one area or one room is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful and clever Interior Decorating styles. Anyone can pull together a range of plain linens and matching furniture pieces and in the right place I believe this look can be very stylish. However, bringing personality into a room and most importantly finding your client's personality and being able to create a room for your client which exudes their personal style is what only a very good Interior Designer/Decorator can do. What are your thoughts? What Interior Decorating style do you like? Who is your favourite Interior Designer/Decorator?

Another U.S. Designer who does this look so well is Windsor Smith as visable in the lounge room she created in her own home in the above image.

A Cosy Cottage

I loved reading THIS article about the small cosy summer cottage Steven Gambrel renovated and redecorated in Sag Harbour USA.

One Of My Favourites!

Via Style Court above & below

I must admit Windsor Smith is one of my most favourite US designers. I love her strong classic design aesthetic but most of all I love the way she incorporates vintage pieces, collections and hints of colour so elegantly into her designs. I have listed some of my favourite Windsor Smith rooms above for your visual pleasure!
